The Story

A Loire Valley flower, held in gold

Julie carries the Gogane plainly: the flower, engraved in relief on the top of the ring. No stone and no artifice, only the drawing, the metal and the light moving across the relief. It comes in yellow, white or red gold, in FR sizes 38 to 69, to be worn alone or among other rings.

The motif

The Gogane, plainly told

In Anjou, the checkered fritillary, a flower of the Loire Valley's flood meadows, is called the Gogane. Its drawing became the emblem of the house of NAGOYA.

On Julie, the flower fills the top of the ring. It is not laid on the metal like an added ornament: it is engraved in relief into the gold itself, so that the ring and its motif are one and the same.

The craft

Engraved in relief

Engraving in relief means removing the metal around the motif so that the flower stands out from the top. The design depends on volume rather than color or stone: each edge catches the light differently as the hand turns.

Julie is made by hand in our workshop in Saumur. It is also where the ring comes back, once time has marked it, to be cared for or restored.

Three golds

Yellow, white or red

Julie comes in 18k yellow, white or red gold (750). The fineness stays the same, 750 parts per thousand of pure gold, and only the shade changes with the alloy. Yellow warms the relief, white makes it more graphic, red softens it.

The ring is offered in FR sizes 38 to 69 (approx. US ½ to 12¾). If you hesitate, the size guide gives the conversions and the workshop will answer your questions.

Relief engraving only reveals itself as the hand moves: it is the light that completes the drawing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between yellow, white and red gold?

All three are 18k gold (750): 750 parts per thousand of pure gold, the rest being an alloy that sets the color. The design and the engraving are identical; only the shade of the metal changes.

Is the Julie ring available in silver?

Yes. The Julie ring in sterling silver (925) carries the same Gogane engraved in relief, either plain or pavé-set.

Which sizes are available?

FR sizes 38 to 69, approximately US ½ to 12¾. The size guide gives the conversions; if in doubt, write to the workshop.

How long does delivery take?
