The Story

A stone that lets the light through

Beneath most stones, the setting stays discreet. On L'Ombrelle, it becomes the design: a composition of small Goganes opens beneath the sapphire like a parasol and lets the light reach it. A 1.57-carat Auvergne sapphire, 4.9 grams of gold, a ring shown in red gold and also offered in white or yellow gold.

The design

A parasol of flowers

The starting idea is simple: to make the setting a motif in its own right. The small Goganes meet beneath the sapphire and form an openwork dome, like a parasol opened above the finger.

From the front, you first see the stone. From the side, the ring reveals this second, quieter design, the one mostly noticed by the person who wears it.

The stone

1.57 carats from Auvergne

At the top sits a 1.57-carat Auvergne sapphire, unheated and untreated. Set above the parasol, it takes in light from above and from the sides, since the openwork setting does not block it.

The stone is set by hand in our Saumur workshop, and each ring is made to the size ordered, from FR 48 to 60 (approx. US 4½ to 9¼).

Three golds

Red, white or yellow

Shown in red gold, L'Ombrelle also comes in white and yellow gold, always 18k (750). Red warms the blue of the sapphire, white leaves it alone with the light, yellow gives it a sunnier frame.

To care for it, take the ring off to swim, exercise or apply perfume, clean it with a soft cloth, and bring it to the workshop each year for a polish.

A setting can hide a stone or light it; here, we wanted it to light it.
